About the race:
Calico Racing has been directing our Extraterrestrial Full Moon Midnight race along the Extraterrestrial Highway, on the fringes of Area 51 annually since 2007. Our longest continuously run event is now approaching our 17th year in August!
Over the past 16 years (and 1 year of Alien Escape, newly introduced amid covid for 2020) we have accumulated loads of left over medals. Enough so to have an “all aliens” themed recycled style run!
Ancient Aliens features a hybrid style event; part recycled style, part a new twist on our vintage art styles! Medals and awards will be ancient (i.e. left over) medals from past ET and Alien Escape races. But the event shirts will be an updated version of early year shirt artwork- printed just for this event!
A “Daytime ET”!
Running along the fringe of the mysterious Area 51, this stretch of highway (375) has an overwhelming number of reported UFO sightings. So much so, that in 1996 the federal government officially named highway 375 the “Extraterrestrial Highway”. The ET Highway has become a gathering place for UFO enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. With elevations ranging from roughly 4000-5600 feet, the high desert will enchant you with gorgeous vegetation, surrounding mountains, and stunning vistas.
Annually since 2007, Calico Racing has hosted the Extraterrestrial Full Moon Midnight race each August, closest to the full moon. Given the midnight start time, the ET Midnight race offers cool temperatures despite being August in Nevada. ET participants run under bright moonlit skies while counting shooting stars- it is truly magical! But yet- most have never actually SEEN the course!
Traditionally the ET course ends at the Little A’le’Inn. But in 2020 due to COVID-19 the course was changed to an out and back from the Black Mailbox. The course was a hit among runners, so it returns in this “Daytime ET” called Alien Escape from Area 51.
In stark contrast to the August race, Alien Escape is during the day (actually SEE the beautiful high desert serenity!) and during late fall- so expect COLD morning temperatures, perfect for running!
“COVID Born” Race: Calico Racing was the first organization to host a race in Southern Nevada amid COVID-19 with our 14th annual ET race on August 1, 2020. The permitting agency approved our COVID mitigation plan and we were extremely pleased with complete participant compliance! Since Alien Escape will be an exact (daytime) replica of the ET race we just hosted in August 2020, I feel very confident in our ability to race November 15, 2020!
COVID-19 Promise: As the COVID-19 global pandemic is still unfolding, Calico Racing’s promise to you:
- If we are forced to cancel or postpone the event, registrants will receive a 100% transfer of the net entry fee/ add-ons paid into ANY Calico Racing event, good for 1 year (USA), or 2 years (International), based on address on your registration. The entry fee of the race that you are transferring into will be determined by the pricing schedule for that event on the date you complete your registration into the new race. No refund of any difference, if applicable, will be issued.
- Alternatively, you may switch to the virtual race, in lieu of the deferral in #1 above, if you choose.
- We will continue to keep you informed as information becomes available and decisions are made.
- Once we are finally able to race, we will continue to provide you with a clean and safe environment to race; and will implement additional measures to ensure the health and safety of our community as necessary.

About the Devil After Dark Race: Over the years, one of my favorite times at our Running with the Devil extreme heat race in late June is when the sun sets, and the night air just beckons you to be outside and run! Devil After Dark brings you that magic with a late summer evening run.
Commencing just before sunset, run through Lovell Canyon while enjoying the stunning sunset as day falls into night. Sun is replaced by stars and moonlight lights the way. The omnipresence of the surrounding canyon under the moonlit starry night is magical! Pinion Juniper trees dance in the shadows and the neon lights of Las Vegas are just minutes away. An enchanted late summer evening run.

About the race: This 3 day running festival gets inside the heart of Valley of Fire State Park, not only admiring the view, but BEING the view! The courses take you deep into sections of Valley of Fire seen by fractions of a percentage of visitors. This 1/2 Marathon Distance Stage Race is Fully Supported and Full of Adventure! Run a 1/2 Marathon each of 3 days; or join for just one or 2 days. On Day 3 we open the event up to runners in a 8.25 mile or 5K distance. Limited space is available in the event, so don’t hesitate in registering for this unique, fun, challenging, and awe inspiring event!

….In 1984 Prince and the Revolution famously sang those lyrics to open both the album and film, titled “Purple Rain“. Sadly, on April 21, 2016 the earthly reign of the Purple Rain creator came to a tragic and premature end. At this anniversary, we will gather not only to “get through” this thing called life- but to CELEBRATE this iconic “Pop Life” figure.
Whether you were a fan of this “Musicology” legend or not, just like the color purple, or love the number “7” like Prince did, “Gett Off” the couch and “Let’s Go Crazy” and party like it’s “1999“.
Costumes are highly encouraged! Grab your “Raspberry Beret” or at least your favorite purple running gear- “Hot thing“, you know “U Got the Look“!
NOTE: The color Purple is also associated with several different causes. Unlike the color pink, which is almost exclusively linked to Breast Cancer Awareness, the color Purple is associated with a variety of causes. Among them include Alzheimer’s Disease, Animal Abuse, Eating Disorders, and Victims of 9/11 to name a few. You can read more here. About the race: Back by popular demand, and reincarnated in 2016 at a new venue to bring you a new challenge! Pure Mojave Desert running at its finest! Come join us on this PAVED and scenic course which covers rolling terrain.
**We will be offering both morning AND 12pm NOON start times for the 5K and 10K. Join for just one, or double down and run both! Any morning race distance is eligible!
Majestically framing the west side of the valley, Red Rock Canyon is the most notable natural treasure in the Las Vegas area.

The omnipresence of the surrounding canyon under the moonlit starry night is magical! Joshua trees dance in the shadows and the neon lights of Las Vegas can be seen in the distance.
